1) 25th June 2016 - 4th Poorvi Sangeeth Sanje

The Guitar students of the Academy viz., Rishabh, Dhanush D,  Nayana K N, Shashank J C, Sridhar S, Ashika P K, Vidyutha M V, & Sathvik Rao, gave a wonderful perfromance for 1 hour trained by their teacher, Sri. M R Shivakumar Swamy.

They presented a few western classical and a few indian classical songs. Finally their teacher also gave a solo presentation which was appreciated by all. Sri M K Shashidhar gave a good support on Rhythm pads.     

 
 
2) 5th to 9th June and 10th June 2016 - Workshop and Concert by Vid. R Chandrika

Poorvi Sangeth Academy recently organized the Quarterly Music program comprising of a Karnatic Classical Vocal Music concert on Saturday 10th June 2017 at BHUMIKA HALL, M.E.W.S, 17th cross, Between 4th & 6th Main, Malleswaram, Bangalore-55.

Prior to this, Vid. R Chandrika had conducted a Music workshop on Haridasa Krithis (Devarnamas) from 5th to 9th June 2017 at Poorvi premises. About 40 enthusiastic people had enrolled for this workshop and learnt about 11 devarnamas in a short time of just 5 days, composed by various Haridasas like Purandaradasaru, Kanandasaru, Vyasarayaru, Vijayadasaru, Sreepadarayaru, Vadirajaru, Jagannathadasaru in various appealing ragas set to various talas.

The event commenced sharply at 6PM with a group presentation of about 4 krithis learnt during the workshop by the participants, which was neatly presented and received the appreciation of the audience. After conclusion, all of them were given a appreciation-certificate and a audio CD containing these songs sung by Vidushi herself, which will help the participants to learn the song to perfection later.

This followed with a formal welcome by Vid. B K Anantharam, the Vice-President of the Academy, who gave a brief introduction of the Main Artists of the evening, viz., Vid. R Chandrika with a very impressive profile. She is a gold medallist in Vidwath exams, and at present a full time AIR artist. She is very well known for her music lessons on Radio. The other artists for the evening, viz. Vid. M D Arjun on Violin, Vid. B R Srinivas on Mridanga & Vid. Kiran Kumar on Khanjira were also introduced to the auidence.  All the artists on the dais were honoured with a bouquet.

The event commenced immediately thereafter by Vid. R Chandrika who presented the following krithis :

a)     ‘Gajavadana karuna’ in raga sriranjani set to aditala.

b)    ‘Annapoorne’ of Muthuswamy Dikshithar in saama raga set to aditala.

c)     ‘Amma ravamma’ of Thyagaraja in kalyani raga set to khanda chhapu tala.

d)    ‘Sri chakra rajeshwari’ in raga shivashakthi.

e)     ‘Ika nannu briva’ in raga bhairavi set to aditala.

f)      Concluded with a purandaradasa krithi ‘Yashode’ in raga Hindustani kapi.

They were equally very well supported by Vid. M D Arjun on Violin,  Vid. B R Srinivas on Mridanga,  & Vid. Kiran Kumar on Khanjira.

Vid. B K Anantharam proposed the vote of thanks not forgetting to mention that Vidushi is also an organiser of her Music Foundation - “Naga vaibhava”, wherein she has been supporting fellow artists on various occasions by organizing music concerts. SVBC Channel, Bangalore had recorded the proceedings to be telecast on their channel.

Sri. M K Krishna compered the event.

The curtains drew after a wonderful presentation which kept the audience tapping to the lilting tunes and lyrics. The hall which was packed to the full capacity with a spill over outside, enjoyed the music and the whole event thoroughly and dispersed to their homes with a promise to return for the next forthcoming activities of the Academy.

 
3) 10th September 2017 - Hindustani Sitar Concert by Dr. Jayant Kumar Das.

Poorvi Sangeth Academy recently organized the Quarterly Music program comprising of a Hindustani Classical Sitar Music concert on Sunday 10th Sept 2017 at BHUMIKA HALL, M.E.W.S, 17th cross, Between 4th & 6th Main, Malleswaram, Bangalore-55.

The event commenced sharply at 6PM with a welcome by the Academy President, Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao who welcomed the Artists, viz. Dr. Jayant Kumar Das on Sitar and Gurumurthy Vaidya on Tabla, and everybody. The artists were honoured with a bouquet by Sri. Hiremagaluru Pradeep, Mg. Trustee of the Academy.

The concert commenced immediately thereafter by Dr. Jayant kumar Das who presented the following Bandish :

a)     Raag “Sahana Kanada set to Ektaal .

b)    Raag “Puria Dhanashree”  set to Teental.

c)     Raag “Rageshree” set to Roopak tal.

He was equally very well supported by Gurumurthy Vaidya on Tabla who is an accomplished Artist having accompanied many senior artists like Venkatesh Kumar etc.

Sri. Hiremagaluru Pradeep proposed the vote of thanks. Sri. Lingesh K C, compered for the whole event.

4) 17th September 2017 - 5th Poorvi Sangeeth Sanje

The event started off at 4:15 PM sharp as scheduled inspite of heavy rains on that day. This time the event was a presentation by Karnatic Violin students guided by their Teacher - Vid. S Shashidhar. The students who participated in the show were Adya P Aithal, G Harini, Shambo Sarkar & Sanchita V Iyer.

They were accompanied by Vid. Srinivas Anantharamaiah on Mridanga.

The students who started off with the AIR signature music, presented Pillari geethe followed by Sanchari geethe, later on Swarjithes and a few other popular songs like Brahmamurari (Lingashtakam), Vande Matharam and concluded with the National Anthem.

Even though the crowd was thin initially, later on it picked up and the venue was full.

Sri. Pradeep welcomed and proposed vote of thanks. The teachers and all the artists were honoured with Bouquets and Rose. The assembled audience felt very happy with the neat presentation and dispersed for the day after having tea refreshments.

 
5) 5th November 2017 - Jagadodharana 3 

Poorvi Sangeth Academy in association with Jai Srikrishna Charitable Trust of Malooru, recently organized the 3rd Jagadodharana Musical event  comprising of singing and dancing Saint Purandaradasa krithis at Divya Kuteera (Vruddhashrama), Temple road, Doddamalooru, Channapattana on Sunday 5th November 2017 from 9AM to 1 PM.

The program is generally held commemorating the Tula-Pournima, which is the day Saint Purandaradasa graced the temple and sang the popular krithi- “Adesidalu yeshode jagadodharana”, which is sung even today by almost all the top and upcoming artists which is tuned to Raga Kaapi in Adi tala.

The event commenced with a procession from the Purandaradasa Mantap in front of the temple to the Program venue a short distance away, which started at 8:45AM. Later after a sumptuous & generous breakfast, the Musical event started off with a slight delay of about 45 mins.

The program which was rendering of Purandarasa krithis by various artists were as follows :

1.     Malooru Music Academy  - Group vocal presentation.

2.     Jai Bhuvaneshwari Bhajana Mandali – Group vocal presentation.

3.     Jai Srikrishna Charitable Trust Bhajana Mandali jointly with Bharath Vikas Mahila Bhajana Mandali – Group vocal presentation.

4.     Rajatadhri Bhajana Mandali – Group vocal presentation.

5.     Anandadari Bhajana Mandali – Group vocal presentation.

6.     Students of Vamshi Academy, viz., Badrinath, Prasanna, Ananth & Mukund – Flute recital.

7.     Vid. Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao – Solo Vocal.

8.     Vid. M D Arjun & Vid. Achutha Rao – Violin duet.

9.     Vid. Ramu Natarajan – Solo Veena Recital.

10.  Vid. B K Anantharam – Solo Flute recital.

11.  Vid. Nivedita Sharma – Solo Dance performance.

12.  Vid. Sananth Kumar – Solo Violin performance.

13.  Vid. Sangeetha Bhatkal along with her students, viz., Ashika P K, Aishwarya Anand & Srikrishna Deshpande – Each solo Vocal.

14.  Vid. S Somasundaram – Solo Vocal.

15.  Vid. Pratibha Nandan – Solo Vocal.

16.  Kum. Sannutha – Solo Vocal.

17.   Sri. J V Krishna – Solo Vocal.

18.  Vid. Hiremagaluru Pradeep – Solo Vocal.

All the artists gave a very enthralling performance even though it was a very short period, and were ably accompanied on Violin by Sanath Kumar, M D Arjun, Achuta Rao, and on percussion instruments like Mridanga, Ghata,  Morsing & Tabla by Vid. G S Nagaraj, Vid. Swaminathan, Vid. Sriranga & Vid. Raghavendra Hebbar.

Even though the program was held in a small town hamlet, the audience of about 100 approximately attended the whole event till the end, which was followed by a sumptuous and tasty lunch.

This being the third successive program of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy outside Bangalore, the support was very encouraging, with a promise to give more in the next year.

6) Sunday 19th November 2017 - Students' Annual Day - 2017

Poorvi Sangeth Academy recently organized the Poorvi Students’ Annual Day on Sunday 5th November 2017  at BHUMIKA, M.E.W.S, 17th Cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore 560 055 from 4PM to 8 PM.

The program commenced exactly at 4PM on time with an invocation of Naada geete on Track by Poorvi Students.

Thereafter the students of the following categories rendered performance each for 15 minutes :

1.     Karnatic Violin students - Shambo Sarkar, Aadya P Aithal, G Harini & Sanchita V Iyer trained by their guru Vid. S Shashidhar.

 

2.     Karnatic Vocal Batch 2 students - Gauthama Skanda, Akshaya B, Aditi S Ankushagiri, M G Sharada, M G Girija, Yosha Srinivas, Anarghya Srikanth, Aadya P Aithal, Sanchita  V Iyer, G Harini, Sinchana Shankar, Greeshma E, Rachel Theresa and Deepika Ranganath, all trained by their guru Vid. Rekha Harinath.

3.     Keyboard students – Anand K,  Sanjana S, Uppili Rajeev, Abhay Narayan, Gagan S Kashyap, Nikhil P, Chaayank D, Aditya H R, Ayush P K, M Keerthana, Saurabh Karthikeya M S, Akarsh D S, Tanushree R Neha Woodi, Sachin Vishwanath, and Jagadheep D.

5.     Sugama Sangeetha students – Pallavi P Krishna, Keshava Raju, M Shreeja, Arathi B, Jayashree Sriram, Disha P, Chaitra N, Sushmitha K, Vaishali Nayar, Tharamani S, Savitha G, Dr. R M Lalitha, & Rekha Raghuveer, all trained by their gurus Vid. Hiremagaluru Pradeep & Vid. Pratibha Nandan.

 

6.     Hindustani Vocal students – Vishnu Jayanth, Sri Krishna Deshpande, Anagha Bhaskar, Tisha Shah, Aishwarya Anand, Vidhi P Shah, Ashika P K, Nalini Rao, and Megha Sathyanarayana, all trained by their guru Vid. Sangeetha Bhatkal.

 

7.     Hindustani Tabla students – Varun K, Prajwal P Acharya, Dhanush R, Ankush P K, M Mahesh, Mayank Y Naik, Raghav Suresh, Bhargav Rudrapatna, Prabudh S, Sumeru S R, Pradyumna Datta, and Tripadh, all trained by their guru Vid. Sharan Kumar Hoogar.

 

8.     Guitar students – Bhavana S G, Rahul Lokanathan, Sathwik Rao, Sridhar S, Ashika P K, Nayana K N, Dhanush D, Vidyutha M V, and Sameer H B, all trained by their guru Sri. S Shivakumar Swamy.

 

9.     Faculty Members – Vid. Rekha Harinath, Vid. Rekha Prasad, Vid. Sangeetha Bhatkal, Vid. Pratibha Nandan, Vid. Hiremagaluru Pradeep and Vid. J V Krishna, composed and trained by Rekha Harinath.

 

10.                        Bharatanatya Dance students –Bhavya G, S Nandhini, Sindhu Mili, Sinchana Shankar, Surabhi S, Anarghya Srikanth, Abhigna K, Tejeswini R, Suparna P, Dhrithi M and Aditi S Bhat, all trained by their guru Vid. Nivedita Sharma.

 

 

 

The students were accompanied by the following artists:

Vid. D R Raghavendra – Violin,  Vid. D  R Chethan Murthy – Mridanga, Vid. Sharan Kumar Hoogar – Tabla, Vid. Hiremagaluru Pradeep – Keyboard, Vid. Sangeetha Bhatkal – Keyboard, and Vid. Dr. U Lakshminarayana – Mandolin.

 

The entire performance by all the students was tremendous which received a thunderous applause from the packed audience comprising of students’ parents,  well wishers and music lovers.

 

A break was given in between for the Sabha Programme. The president of the Academy, Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao welcomed the chief guest - Dr. N Raghu, Asst. Dir, AIR, Bangalore & all, and introduced him to the audience. Sri. P Umapathi Raju, Chairman, Poorvi Sangeeth Academy honoured the Chief Guest. Vid. B K Anantharam, Vice President of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy gave a keynote address about the academy. The Chief guest and all dignitaries on the stage lighted the lamp, followed by the chief guest’s address. He spoke at length appreciating the parents for taking the pain in getting their children trained in the music. He gave emphasis for classical background for any child which will help them in their future. He also requested the parents not to pressurise the children and compare with others who are good in music, because each child has their own capacity and talent, and can learn what is best possible by them. Students scoring highest marks in their category of music in the recent exams conducted were given a momento by the chief guest. Sri. Hiremagaluru Pradeep, Managing Trustee of the Academy proposed the vote of thanks.

 

The sound, stage lighting and DG system was provided by Sri. Shivakumar of Lakshmi Sound Systems which was good without any problem. Additional chairs, mats and carpets was provided by Prabhu Traders as usual with a neatness beyond apar.

 

All the participants were given an appreciation certificate in the end followed by a sumptuous dinner to all who thoroughly enjoyed the tasty and delicious food catered by Koushik Catereres.

 

The entire program was a great success thanks to the committee’s and volunteers’ support.
