07. Sunday 17th December 2017 - 5th Anniversary of the Academy |
Poorvi Sangeth Academy recently organized its 5th anniversary on Sunday 17th December 2017 at SRI KRISHNADEVARAYA KALA MANDIRA, Behind Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, Vyalikaval, Bangalore 560 003 from 4PM to 8 PM.
The program commenced exactly at 4PM on time with a Sugama Sangeetha performance by Sri Hiremagaluru Pradeep & Smt Pratibha Nandan (both Trustees of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy) under the Trustee-slot from 4-5.15 PM. They presented various songs as below in a combination of solo and duet singing:
1. ‘Om Sachidananda’ of KuVemPu for Mysore Ananthaswamy’s tune.
2. ‘Baro Krishnayya’ – the popular Kanandasa’s devaranama.
3. ‘Adu baa navile’ – of K S Narasimha swamy, for S. Somasundaram’s tune.
4. ‘Madikeri mel manju’- of G P Rajarathnam, for Mysore Ananthaswamy’s tune.
5. ‘Bare nanna deepika’ – of Dr. NSL Bhatta for C Ashwath’s tune.
6. ‘Aha mallige’ – of Da Ra Bendre for S Somasundaram’s tune.
7. ‘Ilidu baa taayi’ – of Da Ra Bendre for Kalinga Rao’s tune.
8. ‘Ondu munjavinali’ – of Chennaveera kanavi for C Ashwath’s tune.
9. ‘Ghama Ghama’ – of Da Ra Bendre for C Ashwath’s tune.
10. ‘Tamburi’ – of Santa Shishunala Sharief for C Ashwath’s tune.
11. ‘Benne kadda’ – of Dr. Nissar Ahmed for Mysore Ananathaswamy’s tune.
12. ‘Tillana’ – of Da Ra Bendre for S Somasundaram’s tune.
All the songs were presented neatly with Sri Vasanth Kumar Kumble on keyboard, Sri. Sundaresh Shatavadani on Tabla, & Sri. B K Shashidhar on Rhythm pads giving a stupendous support. The audience appreciated the performance.
Immediately thereafter the Sabha Program commenced with an invocation – ‘Raithara haadu’ on Track by students of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy. All the diginitaries seated on dais lighted the lamp. Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao- President of the academy welcomed the guests and the audience. Vid. B K Anantharam honoured the Guest- Vid. S Shankar, followed by his keynote address wherein he gave the statistics of the academy right from the inauguration till date. Vid. S Shankar in his address praised the Poorvi Puraskar awardee-Vid. Dr. B K Chandramouli for his continuous service & contribution in the field of Karnatic music. Thereafter Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. Vid. B K Chandramouli was honoured and conferred with Poorvi Purasakar-2017, followed by his address. He thanked Poorvi Sangeeth Academy for honouring him with the Puraskar. He also stressed the need for the shishya’s reverence to his / her Guru, which should be from the heart and not just an act.
All the Faculty & Staff Members of Poorvi were honoured with a momento for their continuous support to the Academy. Sri. Hiremagaluru Pradeep proposed the vote of thanks.
Soon thereafter Dr. Vid. B K Chandramouli and his troupe gave an outstanding performance of ‘Taala vadya kacheri’ with about 12 artists on the stage, viz., Vid B K Chandramouli on Mridanga & Kunnakol, Vid. L V Mukund on flute, Vid. J K Sreedhar on Violin, Vid. B Dhruvaraj on Mridanga, Vid. Swamy A S N on khanjari, Vid. S N Narayanamurthy on Ghata, Vid. B Bhaskara on Dholu, Vid. Uday Raj Karpoor on Tabla, Vid. V Sreedhara on Dholak, Vid. M Gururaj on Morsing, Vid. Pranav Dutt on Drums and Vid. Sai Vamshi on Kunnakol.
Some of the distinguished artists who were present on the occasion were Sri. S Somasundaram, Vid. R Chandrika, Vid. Nalina Mohan
They received a standing ovation for their spell bound performance which lasted about 1 ½ hour.
The program concluded thereafter with praises form all the audience who left with a good feeling after the event.

08. 11th January 2018 - All India Radio Recording by Poorvi Students |
On 11th January 2018 Karnatic Vocal students recorded Sankaranthi Songs for All India Radio, Bangalore which was broadcast on Sunday 14th January 2018 in the Primary channel of AIR, Kannada- 612 MW. The children sang the following songs: 1. Yelayya belagado - Janapada geethe trained by teacher Vid. Rekha Prasad. 2. Bantu bantu suggi - Janapada geethe trained by teacher Vid. Rekha Prasad. 3. Saggada siri of Dr. K S Nissar Ahmed, tune composed by Mysore Ananthaswamy, trained by teacher Pratibha Nandan. 4. Yelloru banniri of Kumara Janna tune composed by S Somasundaram, trained by teacher Pratibha Nandan. 5. Swagata Sankrantiye of Dr. N S Lakshminarayana Bhatta, tune composed and trained by teacher Hiremagaluru Pradeep. 6. Suggiyu bandaithe - Janapada geethe tune composed & trained by teacher Hiremagaluru Pradeep. The children who participated were Samanvitha G, Lekhana N, Sreenidhi Saaradha, & Shashank P. The accompanying artists were G Sreenivasaiah on keyboard & Y Maruthi Prasad on Tabla. ........... |
09. 1th March 2018 - Sugama Sangeetha by Dr. Rohini Mohan & Troupe |
Poorvi Sangeth Academy recently organized the Quarterly Music program comprising of a Sugama Sangeetha Music concert on Sunday 11th March 2018 at BHUMIKA HALL, M.E.W.S, 17th cross, Between 4th & 6th Main, Malleswaram, Bangalore-55. The event commenced sharply at 6PM with a formal welcome by Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao, President of the Academy, who gave a brief introduction of the Main Artist of the evening, viz., He praised Dr. Rohini Mohan for her continuous contribution in the field of Sugama Sangeetha since a few decades. He said that he also had the occasion to share the dais with her on a few occasions. She is also a AIR artist. She was accompanied by Manohar Patwardhan on vocals, Sri Vasanth Kumar Kumble on Keyboard, Sri Raghavendra Joshi on Tabla and Sri B K Shashidhar on Rhythm pads. All the artists on the dais were honoured with a bouquet. The event commenced immediately thereafter by Dr. Rohini Mohan who presented the following songs :

They were equally very well supported by Vasanth kumar Kumble on Keyboard, Raghavendra Joshi on Tabla and B K Shashidhar on Pads. Sri. Hiremagaluru Pradeep, Managing Trustee, proposed the vote of thanks, by thanking the artists for rendering a soulful performance. He did not forget to mention about the poor attendance by Academy’s students and parents inspite of having made a wide publicity. Sri. M K Krishna compered the event. The curtains drew after a wonderful presentation which kept the audience tapping to the lilting tunes and lyrics. The hall which was packed to half capacity, enjoyed the music and the whole event thoroughly and dispersed to their homes with a promise to return for the next forthcoming activities of the Academy. . . . . . |
