01. Tri-Music Program held on Sat. 29th June 2019

Poorvi Sangeeth Academy recently organized the Quarterly Music program in the form of TRI-MUSIC PROGRAM comprising of a Hindustani, Karnatic Classical Vocal & Sugama Sangeetha Music concert on Saturday 29th June 2019 at BHUMIKA HALL, M.E.W.S, 17th cross, Between 4th & 6th Main, Malleswaram, Bangalore-55.

The event commenced sharply at 4PM with a welcome by the comperer Sri Lingesh Hunsuru. This followed with the introduction of the Hindustani artists by the President of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy, Dr. B R Padmanabha Rao,  who gave a brief introduction of the Main Artist, viz Vid. Vanishree Dhanvantrhi and also the other artists, viz. Vid. Soorya Upadhyaya on Harmonium and Vid. Shashi bhushan Gurjar on Tabla and Smt. Kadale on Tanpura.   All the artists on the dais were honoured with a bouquet.

The event commenced immediately thereafter by Vid. Vanishree Dhanvanttri who presented the following classical numbers and bhajans :

She was equally very well supported by the accompanying artists.

 

The second event - Karnatic vocal by Vid. Uma Kumar took off immediately with a gap of just 10 minutes.

Vid. B K Anantharam, Vice President of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy introduced the Main artist and accompanying artists, viz., Vid. Janardhan Sreenath on Violin and Vid. Prithvi Krishna on Mridanga.

She gave the following presentations:

The third and final event was the Sugama Sangeetha by Vid. Prabha J Inamdar. She was introduced to the audience by Smt. Pratibha Nandan, treasurer of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy. The other accompanying artists, viz., Arun Kumar on Vocal, Vid. Raju on keyboard, and Vid. Raghavendra Joshi on Tabla were also introduced.

 

She along with Arun Kumar presented the following bhava geethe and janapada geethes:

The curtains drew after a wonderful presentation which kept the audience tapping to the lilting tunes and lyrics. The program was well attended. The audience enjoyed the music and the whole event thoroughly and dispersed to their homes with a promise to return for the next forthcoming activities of the Academy.                                                       . . . . .

 
02. POORVI STUDENTS' ANNUAL DAY 2019 & 7TH ANNIVERSARY - Sat. 16th Nov 2019.

Poorvi Sangeeth Academy recently organized the Students' Annual Day (SAD) 2019 and 7th Anniversary  program of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy on Saturday 16th Nov 2019 at SEVA SADAN, 14th cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-03.

1) SAD (Students' Annual Day) - 2019

The event commenced at 9AM sharp with the students, parents and faculty members having arrived with great enthusiasm on Sat 16th Nov 2019 at Seva Sadan to attend & participate in the Students' Annual Day 2019 program.

With a warm welcome by the compering artist, Ms. Sowmya Praveen, the program started off with various groups performing in a chain one after another. The groups were trained by their teachers vigorously. The groups that performed in order of sequence were :-

In between the Sabha program was scheduled wherein Sri. M Ananth was the Chief Guest. After an invocation by Hindustani Vocal students, and lighting the lamp, the Chief guest delivered his address wherein he congratulated Poorvi Sangeeth Academy for organizing a meaningful event for students. He also asked the students to make optimum utilization while studying music in Poorvi with such learned and experienced teachers. Later the  students who scored highest marks in their subjects during the annual music exam were felicitated followed by honouring the teachers. A rare momento was also given to B Jayashree, a student of Violin for a rare feat by participating in the International Space Science Conf on invitation from NASA, Orlando, USA during Oct 2019, representing a few from Karnataka.

The whole event concluded successfully by 1.30 PM.

2) POORVI 7th ANNIVERSARY:-

This event started on the same day at 4PM, with a warm welcome by the compering artist, Sri. Sugganahally Shadakshari.

 

The first music concert was from Vid. Rekha Prasad, an accomplished Karnatic Vocalist, Faculty Member and a Trustee of Poorvi. Her presentation were as follows:-

a) Varna - 'Karunimpa' of Tiruvotriyor Tyagayyar in Sahana Raga set to Adi tala.

b) 'Swaminath' composed by Mutthu swamy dikshitar in Natta raga set to Adi tala.

c) 'Kollapura Nilaye' composed by Vijaya dasaru in Narayani Raga set to Mishra nade tala.

d) 'Samaja vara gamana' composed by Thyagaraja in Hindola Raga set to Aditala.

e) 'Kshemam kuru' composed by Narayana Teertha in Hamir Kalyani raga set to Roopaka tala.

f) 'Yenu punyava' of Varavani Rama Rao in Vasanthi raga set to Mishra nade tala.

g) ' Vaidyana nanariye' of Purandaradasa in Sri Raga set to Adi tala.

 

She was ably accompanied by Vid. Jyotsna Manjunath on Violin and Vid. B S Anand on Mridanga.

 

This was followed by Sabha Program with Dr. MRV Prasad as the Guest of Honour. Dr. C N Ashwathnarayan, Dy CM who was the Chief Guest could not make it to the program due to his busy commitments. Pt. Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar, the main artist of the evening was honoured with Poorvi Puraskar 2019.

 

Immediately after this program, Dr Havaldar took the stage after a brief tea break. He presented his performance as follows :-

 

a) Khayal 'Vachana - Nadapriya Shivanembadu Nadapriya Shivanalla' in Raag Yaman set to Jhap taal.

b) 'Ava rogavu yenage' of Gopala Dasaru in Ahir Bhairav raag set to Jhap taal.

c) 'Gopi kelu ninna maga' of Sridhara Vittala in Bihaag raag set to daadra taal.

d) 'Vachana - Hasivadode' of Akkamahadevi in Raag Bhatiyaar set to teentaal.

e) 'Adapogona baro ranga' of Sripada rayaru in Raag Durga set to daadra taal.

f) 'Kayo karunanide' of Nagaraj Rao Havaldar in Raag Bhairavi set to Bhajan taal.

 

He was ably accompanied by Omkarnath Havaldar (his son & disciple) on Vocal support, Sameer Havaldra on Harmonium, Kedarnath Havaldar (his son) on tabla, Rajesh Kulkarni on taal, Sameer Kulkarni & Suhruth on Tanpura & vocal support and Girish Havaldar on Vocal support.

03. JAGADODHARANA 05 - Sun 24th Nov 2019.

Poorvi Sangeeth Academy jointly with Jai SriKrishna Charitable Trust, recently organized the 5th JAGADODHARANA outbound music program on Sunday 24th Nov 2019 at Doddamalooru, Channapattana taluk.

The event commenced at 9AM sharp with a procession of Pillari geethe and Devaranama group singing throughout the Doddamalooru village by all the Artists, students, parents and faculty members.

After completing the procession, all assembled in the program venue in front of the temple. With a warm welcome by the compering artist, M K Krishna, the program started off with various artists performing in a chain one after another. The artists and various groups that performed were :-

1. Flute recital in group by students of Vamshi Academy.

2. Vocal by Karnatic Vocal students of Poorvi.

3. Violin duet by Vid. Venkatesh Josier and Vid. M D Arjun.

4. Vocal by Vid. Rajashree Josier.

5. Vocal by Vid. R Chandrika.

6. Vocal by Sugama Sangeetha Students of Poorvi.

7. Veena recital by Aishwarya M.

8. Flute recital by Vid. B K Anantharam.

9. Violin recital by Violin students of Poorvi.

10. Vocal by Snehalatha & Party.

11. Bharatanatya by Dance students of Poorvi & teacher Vid. Nivedita Sharma.

Arati was performed later and prasada was distributed to all. Later after a sumptuous lunch, all departed back to Bangalore.
