Events of 2023-24

Poorvi Sangeeth Academy and Sunada Bharati had recently organized Dr. Mani Krishnaswamy Memorial Music Concert on Saturday 29th July 2023 at SEVA SADAN, 14th cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-03.

The event commenced at 10:30 AM with a formal Lamp Lighting by the Trustees, and Artists present.

Vid. B K Anantharam welcomed the audience and introduced the artists of the  event., viz., Karnatic Vocal Concert to all. The artists were Vid. Kalavathy Avadooth on Vocal (daughter of Bangalore K Venkatram, and her siblings are Vid. Jaya Venkataram and Vid. V Krishna, Vid. Mathur Srinidhi on Violin, Vid. Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma on Mrudanga and Vid. Guruprasanna on Khanjira. They are all senior,  leading and popular artists in Bangalore

Later Bouquets were given away to the artists by B K Anantharam, Hiremagaluru Pradeep and M K Krishna.

Earlier, the event was anchored by M K Krishna.

Vid. Rekha Prasad, who is the main organizer for Sunada Bharathi is also a Trustee of Poorvi Sangeeth Academy.

 

Without wasting any time, the concert started off immediately with the following krithis :

  1.  “Karunimpa” varna of  Thiruvottiyur Thyaga iyer, in raga Sahana set to Adi tala.
  2. “Shobillu sapta swara” of Sri Thyagaraja in raga Jaganmohini set to Rupaka tala.
  3. “O jagadamba” of  Sri Shyama Shastri in raga Anandabhairavi set to Adi tala.
  4. “ Bhajana seyaraada” of  Sri Mysuru Vasudevacharya in raga Dharmavathi set to  rupaka tala.
  5. “Chitta shuddi” of Purandaradasa in raga Mukhari set to Khanda chhapu tala.
  6. “ Shuddha madhurya” of Thyagaraja in raga Sindhu Ramakriya set to Adi tala.
  7. “Jesinadella marachitio” of Sri Thyagaraja in raga Thodi set to Adi tala.
  8. “Tillana” by Lalgudi Jayaraman in raga Rageshri set to Adi Tala.

Vid. Kalavathy Avadooth  was very well supported on Violin by Vid. Mathur Srinidhi,  on Mrudanga by Vid Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and on Khanjira by Vid. Guruprasanna.

 

With a vote of thanks by Vid. Rekha Prasad who was the main architect of the event and organized this concert in memory of her guru Dr. Mani Krishnaswamy, was all praise for the artists and her guru. She gave a glimpse of her mentor and guru’s disciplined life and teachings which made her a better karnatic vocal artist, teacher and guide for the generations to come.

All the audience left the auditorium with a feeling of happiness after listening to the divine music concert,  and also the sumptuous lunch provided. On the whole, the entire event went off successfully.
