Events of 2023-24
Poorvi Sangeeth Academy recently celebrated 11th ANNIVERSARY on Saturday 02nd December 2023 at SEVA SADAN, 14th cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-03.
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with an Invocation by Anupama Seetharam and Lalitha Malavika. Lamp Lighting by the Poorvi Puraskar Awardee- Vid. Nagamani Srinath, Chief Guest Dr. A V Prasanna, and Trustees was done thereafter.
Sri VIjaykumar Bhartur, who was compering welcomed the gathering and conducted the event till the end.
Vid. B K Anantha Ram (Vice President of Poorvi & Renowned Karnatic Flautist) welcomed the Guests and introduced them to the audience.
Sri. M K Krishna (Trustee of Poorvi & Retd Banker) presented a brief sketch of Poorvi and its activities.
Poorvi Puraskar 2023 was conferred upon Prof Dr Vid. G N Nagamani Srinath (Renowned Senior Karnatic Classical Vocalist) and was honoured by the dignities present on the dais with a shawl, Bouquet, Fruits, Puraskar, Citation and Purse. She later spoke to the audience giving her experience in the field of Music and her journey. She thanked Poorvi and felt honoured for having received the Puraskar.
Dr. A V Prasanna KAS, the Chief Guest of the function who is a senior Gamaka Exponent and President of Babburkamme Association, spoke highly about Nagamani Srinath and congratulated Poorvi for its activities.
Sri Ananth (President of Sri Thyagaraj Gana Sabha & Malleswaram Sangeeth Sabha) who was one of the dignitaries on the dais later spoke to the audience. He stressed the need for Recoginising the local Karnataka Classical artists and give more opportunities for them rather than inviting other artists from neighbouring states.
Sri. P Umapathi Raju (President of Poorvi and Renowned Builder) honoured the Guests with a shawl, momento, Fruits and bouquet.
Sri K Gopalaiah and Sri Srikanth G S, the other Guests who were supposed to be present for the occasion did not do so due to their pre-occupation.
Sri Hiremagaluru Pradeep (Managing Trustee of Poorvi and Renowned Sugama Sangeetha Singer) proposed the vote of thanks.
After a brief coffee break, Prof Dr Vid G N Nagamani Srinath occupied the dais for her concert and gave a wonderful rendering of Krithis and Devaranamas.
She started her concert with “Devadi Deva” of Mysoru Vasudevacharya in Raga Sunada Vinodini set to Adi tala.
The next krithi was “Dachukova leda” of Thyagaraja in Raga Thodi set to Jhampe tala. The next was a devaranama of Purandaradasa “Kelano hari Taleno” in Raga Kalyani set to Adi tala.
The “Thani avartha” continued after the devaranama which was fabulous. After a brief summing up of the concert by Vid Anantha Ram and thanking the artists, the concluding krithi was a “Tillana” composed by Nagamani Srinath herself in Raga Vasanthi set to Adi tala.
On the whole the concert was very scintillating and perfect with the swara prasthanas. She was ably supported by her senior disciple Dr. Vid. Uma Kumar on vocal, Vid. Nalina Mohan on Violin, Vid. Anirudh Bhat on Mrudanga and Vid. S N Narayan Murth on Ghata.
The whole gathering left the auditorium with a feeling of happiness after listening to the divine music concert, and also the sumptuous lunch provided. On the whole, the entire event went off successfully.
