Events of 2024-25: 10th Jagadodharana Music Festival on 6th Oct 2024

Poorvi Sangeeth Academy recently organized the 10th JAGADODHARANA MUSIC FESTIVAL on Sunday 6th October 2024 at SEVA SADAN, 14th cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-03.

The event commenced at 9:30 AM with a formal Lamp Lighting by the Trustees, and Artists present.

Compereing artist, Sri. Lingesh Hunsuru took over the podium and welcomed all artists and gathering for the successive 10th Jagadodharana Music Festival.

Various eminent artist groups rendered Haridasara krithis / daasarapadas in Hindustani / Sugama Sangeetha and Karnatic style. The artists were as follows:-

  1. Nadopasana  Pt. Vageesh Bhat along with his students Shruthi S Bhat and Pranav Pai rendering (a) Anjiniyatakkayya, (b) Ragi tandeera, and (c) Ranga baro panduranga baro – all of Sri Purandaradasa.
  2. Vidushi Sangeetha Bhatkal along with her students – Ishaan Iyer, Nalini rao and Aditi Kashyap rendering (a) Kandena kanasinali, (b) hari kunida, and (c) Dasarendare Purandara dasarayya- all of Sri Purandaradasa.
  3. Vidushi Vanishree Dhanvantri's students – Amogha Harish, Sudiksha, Meghana, Sanika and Tejashree rendering (a) Kayabekenna devadi, and (b) Adidano ranga – of Sri Purandaradasa.
  4. Vidushi Prabha Inamdar of Ganasiri Trust along with her students – Shailaja, Geeta SS, Sandhya Kulkarni, Parijata Narayan, Nanda Tungai, Umadevi Satish, Anita Shankar and Swati Arvandekar rendering (a) Duggani embuhudu, and (b) Yelladi bande muddu rangayya – all of Sri Purandaradasa.
  5. Students of Karnataka Kalashree S Somasundaram's Gana Sudha Sugama Sangeetha Academy, viz., Divyajyothi Satish Kumar, Vani Punekar and Jayanthi N, presented the krithis (a) Devaki nandana of Purandaradasa, and (b) Yenendu kondadi of Kanakadasa.
  6. Vidushi Gayathri Keshavamurthy of Panchamrutha along with her students presented the following devaranams – (a) Koosina Kandira and (b) Yaare rangana yaare krishnana- all of Sri Purandaradasa.
  7. Vidwan B K Anantha Ram's students of Vamshi Academy of Music – Prasanna, Badarinath, Guruprasad, Krishna, Manudyuth and Sakshat rendered the following devaranams on flute (a) Jaya Janaki kantha, (b) Odibarayya vaikunta pati ninna , and (c) Kallu sakkare kolliro.
  8. Vidushi Archana Bhoj along with her students Rohini, Praseeda, Manasvi,  Sudeepta, and Manoghna rendered the following krithis (a) Rama raghukula nama, and (b) Bandevayya govinda chetty.
  9. Vidwan B S Anand of Sanak Art School along with his students Pradeep, Nirmal and Pranesh rendered the following krithis – (a) Kodubega divyamati, and (b) Sharanembe vani.

Immediately thereafter, the main attraction of the event, i.e. SRI PURANDARADASA'S NAVARATNA MALIKE KRITHIS were presented in goshti gayana (group performance) with nearly 60 eminent Karnatic Classical Artists of Vocal, Violin, Flute, and Percussion, performing in unison under the able direction of Venubrahma Kalabhooshana Vid. B K Anantha Ram.

The krithis presented were (a) Geetes, (b) Jaya Janaki kantha, (c) Aadidano ranga, (d) Kallu sakkare kolliro, (e) Odibarayya vaikunta pati ninna, (f) Sakala graha bala neene, (g) Pogadirelo ranga, (i) Naa ninna dhyanadoliralu, (j) Krishnamurthy kanna munde, (k) Bandanene ranga, and (l) Indina dinave shubha dinavu.

The above program concluded by 2 PM, after which all had a sumptuous prasada and left with a very good feeling.
